Dún Laoghaire Fianna Éireann 1916 – 1921

Fantastic image of Fianna Eireann Officers from Dun Laoghaire (1916-21) sent in to us by Jason Walsh-McLean and James Brady. James is conducting research on Fianna Eireann in the Dun Laoghaire area. If anyone has information on any of the veterans in the photograph or on the Fianna in Dun Laoghaire in general then please contact us or post a comment below. Thanks.

Liz – Great surprise to hear from you. If you are John and Renee’s daughter I can confirm you have the right godfather and the right Billy. Love to hear from from you. Drop a line to billyk8475@gmail.com if you can.

I’m looking for information about Captain James (Jimmy) Murray and his brother Michael, both from Dun Laoghaire. Both served in the IRA locally, James Murray was associated with The Squad. Both took the pro-Treaty side during the Civil War, Jimmy was in the CID, Michael in the National Army. Jimmy was convicted of the murder of Cpl. Bergin in the Curragh at the end of the Civil War and died in prison a couple of years later. I can be contacted at mckennam@gmail.com, any information about them would be gratefully received.
